ATOMIC THEORY OF DALTON

                         Dalton atomic theory?

Ans :-

About John Dalton:-

John Dalton was an English chemist, meteorologist and physicist.

He is known for his pioneering work in the development of modern atomic theory.

Dalton's theory was based on the atoms of different elements could be distinguished by differences in their weights.

He stated his theory in a lecture to the Royal Institution in 1803

Born: September 6, 1766, in Cockermouth

Died: July 27, 1844, Manchester

Nationality: English

Awards: Royal Medal

Theory :

                   1.   Elements are composed of minute , invisible particles called atoms.

                   2.   Atom can neither be created nor destroyed.

                   3.   Atom of the same elements are identical in all respect such as mass , size.

                  4.   Atoms of different elements have different masses and sizes.

                  5.   Compound atoms are formed by the union of two or more atoms of differrent elements.

                  6.   When atoms combine to form compound atoms they do so in simple numeric ratios such as 1:1 , 2:1 , 2:3 .

                 7.   Compond atom is the smallest porticle of a compound .

                 8.   Compound atoms of the same compound are alike in mass and size but differ from compound atoms of other compounds.
